Recent Empties

Although I titled this post 'Recent Empties' I could just as accurately have titled it 'Recent Favourites' as the majority of finished products in this post are all favourites of mine.

I guess this isn't really that surprising as being a beauty blogger if I don't like a product or if it isn't effective for my skin type and needs then I generally don't finish it but move onto another product that better suits my needs.

So if you want to know which products I've been loving and have finished over the past few weeks keep reading! There's quite a lot of them, some are even my holy grail products!

Recent Empties

HAIR CARE EMPTIES
bhave Rescue Intense Repair Shampoo and Conditioner
Regular readers of my blog would know by now that bhave is my absolute holy grail of hair care brands. I can't rave enough about bhave products! They have worked wonders in improving my damaged hair's condition that I have subjected to way too much straightening, heat drying and regular highlighting.

With the arrival of the warmer weather my hair will no doubt be exposed to even more environmental stressors such as UV exposure, and chlorine and salt from constant swimming.

Luckily in addition to repairing the hair shafts and rebuilding them from the inside out bhave products also prevent further damage by creating a protective barrier around hair shafts.

bhave products are also free from all hidden nasties such as parabens, sulphates and sodium chloride.

I highly recommend these products to anyone who has hair in need of some rescuing. There are travel kits consisting of the bhave Rescue Intense Repair Shampoo, Conditioner, Riot Control Oil, Intense Conditioning Mask & Leave In Creme available HERE if you are interested in trying these products for yourself to see first hand why I rave about them. This travel kit is a brilliant introduction to a wide range of bhave products at a great price but be warned once you've used these products once, you won't want to use anything else!

Until 30/11/2016 you can add the coupon code BHAVE10 at checkout to receive 10% off bhave hair care products.

Empty Hair Care Products

NEWS FLASH: bhave have just released a new product called Super Nova, a multi function hair elixir that will be perfect for summer. I have just started trialing it last week. Once I've used it for a couple of weeks I'll write about it in a separate post.

BATH & SHOWER PRODUCT EMPTIES

Empty Shower & Bath Products

MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Wash
Isn't the packaging of this hand & body wash stunning! I love the red bottle with the luxe looking gold lettering! In fact it looks so festive, seeing as we're hosting Christmas at our house this year, I'm planning on buying another two of these for our bathrooms, so even the bathrooms will look suitably Christmas-y!

Of course it's not only the packaging of this product that I love, I also love the product itself!

The MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Wash is divinely but subtly scented with rose, freesia and lily of the valley and has base notes of sandalwood and musk. It produces just the right amount of lather.

If like me you are interested in purchasing this product to decorate your bathrooms during the Christmas season I have found it for approximately 15% off HERE. There's no point any of us paying full price for a product when we don't have to!

Lush The Comforter Shower Cream

This is another beautifully scented product! It's label describes it 'Like a cuddle in a bottle' and I did find this shower cream to be an uplifting and reassuring scent to wake me up in the shower each morning after I stumble out of bed.

This lovely scent is created with a blackberry and vanilla infusion and it also contains cypress oil, cassis absolute and bergamot oil. I have missed this shower cream since finishing it and will definitely repurchase it once I finish the other shower products I already own. If you love Lush products you will love this.

Pears Shower Gel
I won a year's supply of Pears products from Kimba Likes blog a while ago and thought I'd finished them all but I found this last remaining shower gel hiding in the back of my bathroom cabinet when I was doing a declutter. It's a lovely and gentle product that my whole family loved using. I would be happy to repurchase this in the future.

CLEANSING EMPTIES

Empty Cleansing Products

DermaSukin Daily Gentle Wash
As the name suggests this daily wash is very gentle on the skin and is great for people with sensitive skin. It contains aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber, and is soothing on the skin.

It is Australian owned and made, 100% vegan, 100% carbon neutral and has not been tested on animals. It contains no hidden nasty ingredients. It is fragrance and soap free. Talk about ticking all the right boxes!

Although I don't have sensitive skin I do like giving my skin a break occasionally by using extremely gentle products. I'd be happy to repurchase this product.

Bioderma Hydrabio H2O Solution Micellaire
This is another prize I won a while ago and I absolutely love this micellar water! It is one of the most efficient micellar waters I have ever used. It is specially formulated for sensitive dehydrated skin and cleanses, removes makeup and moisturises. It's just a pity it is also a lot more expensive than other micellar waters! If money were no object then this is the micellar water I would always buy!

Click HERE if you want to buy this top of the range micellar water to try it for yourself.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Wipes
During the last school holidays I took two of my children to Canberra for a short mini holiday. I took these Garnier micellar cleansing wipes with me for ease of makeup removal and face cleansing when I was away. they worked well and were easy to transport with no worries about spills. These wipes are available online from Priceline HERE and are currently on special 3 for the price of 2.

MAKEUP EMPTIES

Empty Makeup Products

I recently had a bit of a declutter of some older lipsticks and have now tossed the following finished or expired lipsticks out.

Aveda Lip Tint in Peony - I loved this lip tint and was sad to see it finished.
L'Oreal Perpetual Peach Lipstick - A lovely textured lipstick but not a flattering shade on me.
Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable Lipstick Matte in Kiss - One of my favourite lipsticks to wear to work from a while ago. This lipstick was completely empty and has been empty for possibly a couple of years!
Max Factor Lip Gloss in Trend Setter - Too glittery! I can't believe I wrote that but I'm being realistic. I'm probably too old to wear such a glittery lip gloss and it's not really even my shade, plus it smelled off, so out it goes!
Maybelline Baby Lips in Protecting Berry - Quite old, remaining product doesn't screw back down again properly and almost finished anyway. I did like this lip balm.
Nivea Lip Care Gloss & Shine
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet
The Body Shop Lip Liner in Clover Pink - This used to be one of my favourite lip liner shades but it is getting too for me to use well as it is so short now. I'll try and replace it with a new one if they still make this shade.

OPI Avoplex High Intensity Hand & Nail Cream
This is one of my favourite hand and nail creams. I have finished several tubes of this product previously. I have already purchased a bigger tube of it. Click HERE if you want to purchase this product.

Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara
This is the best mascara I have ever used to date and I have used a lot of mascaras! It is long wearing, clump free and flake free, and gives me dramatic longer and fuller lashes with some extra curl! I will definitely be replacing this, especially in time for the Christmas and New Year party season!

I previously blogged about it HERE.

M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Powder in Medium
I'm a bit alarmed at how quickly I went through this powder in about three months! It is the powder that I reach for to wear to work so I do use it a lot but even so I would have thought it would last longer than that!

It's a slow baked mineral powder in a soft creamy beige colour and gives my skin a wonderfully natural looking finish. It minimises shine on my face, evens out my skin tone and sets my foundation. It's another favourite of mine and I have replaced it already as I'd be a bit lost without it!

I'm adding this empty M.A.C container to my stash of empty M.A.C containers. 6 empty containers get rewarded with a free M/A.C lippie of your choice. I've only got two more empties to go!

What products have you finished recently?

Rimmel London Kate Moss 15th Anniversary Lipstick Collection - Review & Swatches

Rimmel London is celebrating the 15th Anniversary of collaborating with Kate Moss by releasing a special edition six lipstick collection of Kate's three favourite nude and three favourite red shades!

Kate is the ultimate London 'It Girl" with her edgy fashion and cool boho style. She has been Rimmel's muse since 2001 and has been the perfect spokesperson for their London Look.

The new Rimmel & Kate Moss 15th Anniversary lipstick collection celebrates the two different facets of Kate's fashion personality, both the red carpet idol and the boho goddess!

The shades themselves, as expected, are stunning, but before we even go there let's stop and admire the rose gold packaging of these anniversary lipsticks!!!

Rimmel London Kate Moss 15th Anniversary Lipstick Collection

OMG! Isn't this packaging just the most gorgeous and swoon-worthy packaging ever! It really gives these Rimmel lipsticks a truly luxurious look.

My love of rose gold shows no hint of waning! I absolutely love the look of these lipsticks!

Ok, now I've settled down a little bit from my swoon, let's look at the lipstick shades themselves.

Going from left to right in the photo below the shades are:
  • 56 Boho Nude - a warm caramel toned nude
  • 55 My Nude - a neutral every day beige nude
  • 54 Rock 'n' Roll Nude - a peachy pink toned nude
  • 53 Retro Red - a deep berry red
  • 52 Idol Red - a vibrant orangey red, &
  • 51 Muse Red - a classic red.

Rimmel London Kate Moss 15th Anniversary Lipstick Collection

Swatches of these lipsticks can be seen below.

Rimmel London Kate Moss
15th Anniversary Lipstick Collection Swatches

This collection really is Brit cool at its best!

These lipsticks have a lovely smooth and creamy texture. I found them to be soft and moisturising on my lips and thus very comfortable to wear all day.

All of these lipsticks are infused with light-reflecting black diamonds to give them a lovely sheen whilst providing an intense colour in just one swipe!

They offer a long lasting colour with up to 8 hours of wear. I was actually unable to fully remove the red swatches from my forearm using micellar water alone! Having said that however, I did find that like most lipsticks, I did need to reapply these lipsticks after eating and drinking.

In my opinion these lipsticks are great value for money. They retail for $13.95.

I suggest you buy them quickly if you want them as they are limited edition lippies and will no doubt be very popular!

If you are interested in buying them online you can click HERE to buy them from Priceline.

  • Kats Colourings post about her ongoing seasonal makeup cull, this time of her blushes, was the most popular post from last week.
  • Barbe's comparison post from Fashionista In Suburbia comparing Real Techniques brushes with their fakes was a popular and interesting read too. I have always wondered how the fakes stack up next to the real thing. Now I know!
  • I was fascinated by Renu's review of the Digital Moisture Readers on Cosmetopia Digest. I definitely want one of these gizmos!
  • My pick from last week's posts was Jasmine's post from Sweetaholic Beauty about the Chadstone Sephora opening. I love seeing the hauls other beauty bloggers have indulged in! And what an amazing haul Jasmine had!

7 Scent-sational Spring & Summer Fragrances

Now that Spring has sprung, the sun is shining and the flowers are well and truly blooming it is time to change over our fragrance wardrobes and bring out the lighter & brighter floral and citrus scents and put away the heady woods perfumes of winter.

To help inspire you I've featured 7 scent-sational Spring and Summer fragrances in this post. Some of these are new fragrances only recently launched, others are old favourites and well loved classics. All of them are perfect for the Spring and Summer seasons!

If it's not Spring or Summer where you're reading this post then no worries, just pin this post for future reference. There's a Pinterest button at the side.

7 Scent-sational Spring & Summer Fragrances

The two categories of fragrances most associated with Spring and Summer are:
  • Florals - this is of course the most obvious and completely quintessential Spring fragrance category, and
  • Citrus - the fresh crisp citrus scents come into their own in the warmer months, especially Summer!
As inspiration I have listed below a selection of my favourite floral and citrus fragrances. In the comments below I'd be interested to hear which additional floral and citrus fragrances are your favourites.

Daisy By Marc Jacobs
All the Daisy fragrances are perfect floral scents for Spring and Summer. I mean just look at the bottle lids of these fragrances! You can't get a more Spring themed fragrance bottle than these!

Daisy By Marc Jacobs

My favourite fragrance from the Daisy range is still the original Daisy. In addition to being a floral, it is also a crisp, citrus fruity fragrance, perfect for summer too.

The top notes of strawberry, violet and ruby red grapefruit make a wonderful fresh impact. This is followed up with base notes of musk, vanilla and white woods, balancing out tones of gardenia and jasmine.

There is a limited edition set of Daisy fragrance coming out in holiday packaging in early November 2016 consisting of three metallic hued bottles of red, gold and pink! So keep an eye out for these. I love metallics and these will look amazing!

Marc Jacobs Daisy 50ml is currently reduced from $90 to $69 at Priceline Online. Click HERE to buy.

Alternatively if you want to try more than one variety of Daisy, you can purchase the 4 set of Daisy Minatures including Daisy, Daisy Eau So Fresh, Daisy Delight & Daisy Eau So Fresh Delight HERE for $59. These mini bottles are just the cutest ever!

These mini bottles make an affordable yet totally luxurious gift that is always happily received! I buy these mini sets of four and then give individual mini bottles as Christmas gifts to teachers and work colleagues.

Roses de Chloe
Another beautiful and feminine floral fragrance perfect for the warmer seasons is Roses de Chloe.

Roses de Chloe

The rose notes of this fragrance are incredibly fresh and not at all heavy like some rose fragrances can be. The top note is a gorgeous rose scent with the added freshness of bergamot, which is gradually joined by a heart of damascena rose essence, modernized with a magnolia accord. On the skin this fragrance leaves a lovely trail of white musk and amber, a signature of the Chloe house.

I'm totally in love with this fragrance!

Amazing Grace 20th Anniversary EDT by philosophy
Created to celebrate philosophy's 20th year anniversary, this clean and beautiful feminine fragrance is an irresistible blend of freesia, muguet and jasmine blossoms. These florals are highlighted with clean citrus notes of bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin. This is accented by fresh greens, passionfruit and a classic long lasting musk.

Amazing Grace 20th Anniversary EDT by Philosophy

Viva La Juicy By Juicy Couture
Viva La Juicy is another old Spring and Summer favourite fragrance of mine. A lot of you are probably already familiar with it's crisp fragrance which opens with notes of mandarin and wild berries before floral mid notes of honeysuckle, jasmine petals and gardenia take over. This scent finishes with dry base notes of amber, caramel woods, vanilla, sandalwood and praline.

Viva La Juicy By Juicy Couture

Viva La Juicy is a fresh, fun, flirty, Summery fragrance.

The Juicy Couture range of fragrances are available HERE from Priceline online.

Versace Eros Pour Femme
Versace Eros Pour Femme is a bright and sexy feminine fragrance without being overpowering. It's one of my all time favourite Summer evening fragrances. It has citrus top notes of Sicilian lemon, bergamot and pomegranate, middle notes of lemon flower, jasmine absolute, jasmine infusion and peony, and base notes of sandalwood, ambrox, musk and sensual woods.

Versace Eros Pour Femme

Versace Eros Pour femme 30ml is available from Priceline Online for $95. Click HERE to buy.

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey EDT is a pure, sensual scent that contains only the notes of white flowers. The fresh scent features top notes of freesia, cyclamen and rose water, and has a floral heart of peony and white lily with carnation. The base notes consist of osmanthus, ambrette, musk, tuburose and precious woods.

The romantic in me also loves the symbolism of the glass and steel bottle which is designed to represent the full moon above the Eiffel Tower.

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey

I have blogged about my love for this fragrance previously and this is my third bottle of Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey! This is one of the fragrances that I would consider to be my signature scent. It has given me confidence on many an important occasion!

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey is currently reduced from $119 to $59 at Priceline online making it the perfect time to indulge and buy this fragrance for either yourself or for a good friend for Christmas at this reduced price. Click HERE to buy.

Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro
This Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro fragrance launched earlier this year and was inspired by the Mediterranean coastal Summer breeze.

It blends soft and delicate notes of dewy flowers with a bright aromatic counterpoint, evoking the caressing sea breeze. It's an evocative fragrance with a unique tale of seduction. It's the perfect Summer fragrance in my opinion.

The fragrance opens with a touch of sparkling zesty citrus and bergamot, mingled with lavender top notes. This is followed by a floral heart of jasmine petals. The base notes of cypress wood and cashmere offer a warm and luxurious dimension with a mezmorising lasting trail.

I strongly recommend spritzing this fragrance in store but beware you will probably fall totally in love with it. It is truly divine and perfect for Summer!

Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro

I'm also loving it's stunning diamond shaped bottle. It reminds me of the blue ocean with the sun sparkling on it thanks to it's beautiful vibrant blue colour topped with the multi faceted gem of a lid! Isn't it beautiful!

To find stockists for this fragrance in Australia plus Amazing Grace and Roses de Chloe ring 1800 812 663.
