Bloggers United AU 1st Birthday Celebration at Lush Including How To Make Lush Mermaid Water

How To Create Lush Mermaid Water

Bloggers United AU recently celebrated its 1st birthday at Lush's QVB store in Sydney and what a fun night it was!

The night started off with a lot of mingling and excited chatting. It was such a fabulous opportunity to catch up with some of my favourite Sydney bloggers face to face rather than over the internet!

Quite a few bloggers who regularly link up at the weekly Monday Makeup Madness link up parties I host on Fabulous and Fun Life were present including Leah from Temporary Princess, Mel from Aussie Beauty Talk, Lily from Lily Not Louise, Kim-Marie from Kimba Likes and Barbe from Fashionista in Suburbia. Check out their blogs if you haven't already! My apologies if there were others that I missed mentioning.

All beauty bloggers are welcome to join in these weekly link ups on my blog, it's a great way of making new beauty blogging friends, and of course everyone, bloggers and non bloggers alike, are welcome to check out the link up each week.

In addition to mingling at the Bloggers United birthday celebration there was also a yummy assortment of nibblies laid out for us including these amazing looking AND scrumptious tasting vegan cupcakes from My Little Panda Kitchen. Not only was the frosting a pretty pink but it was also sparkly - swoon!

The lovely staff at Lush then gave a brief presentation on the fresh ingredients that Lush uses followed by hosting a scavenger hunt for us around the store to identify the products containing these ingredients.

Fresh is at the very core of Lush. With their full name being Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics this is not surprising! What was surprising was some of the fresh ingredients they use. These include:
  • Avocado
  • Honey
  • Almonds
  • Rose
  • Eggs
  • Banana, and
  • Potato.
Who knew potatoes, bananas and eggs were ingredients used by Lush?!

It's the vitality and freshness which comes from using these whole fresh ingredients that sets Lush products apart and above other brands.

Aisling from Lush then demonstrated how to make the gorgeous turquoise green and sparkly mermaid water! Who wouldn't love to soak in a bath of mermaid water!!!

One Lush Big Blue Bath Bomb +
Some Crumbled Lush Sunnyside Bubble Bar
= Mermaid Water

Let me share the simple but spectacular Lush Mermaid Water recipe.
  • Dissolve one Lush Big Blue bath bomb in the bath
  • Crumble up a portion of the Lush Sunshine Bubble Bar under running bath water to get the water bubbly and to add some sparkly golden colour
  • Mix the two together and voila - sparkly turquoise Mermaid Water!

If you are a fan of Lush bath bombs SAVE this post to your Pinterest account to always remember the formula for Lush Mermaid Water.

We then indulged in a bit of Lush shopping! When in Lush I can never stop at purchasing just one bath bomb or bubble bar, and this occasion was no different. Here's a photo of my purchases! Going clockwise from the top left corner, I bought:

Lush Bath Bombs

  • 1 Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb
  • 1 Pink Flamingo Bubble Bar
  • 1 Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb
  • 1 Sunnyside Bubble Bar, and
  • 1 Intergalactic Bath Bomb.
We were then all lucky enough to receive a Lush gift bag containing:
  • a solid perfume - mine was the bitter yet sweetly scented All Good Things
  • The Great Barrier Solid Hydrating Wash
  • and we were also spoilt and allowed to choose one product of our choice. I chose the absolutely divinely scented The Comforter Shower Cream. Next time you're in Lush, give this product a sniff - it's heavenly - such a beautiful scent to wake up to in the shower each morning!!

Lush The Great barrier Solid Hydrating Wash, Lush All Good Things Solid Perfume
& Lush The Comforter Shower Cream,

In conclusion, Bloggers United AU states its aims as being: "To make an amazing Australian community even better, to support all bloggers and help them gain more exposure, meet other people in the blogging community and to have fun doing what they love - blogging!" Bloggers United AU certainly achieved their aim at their 1st Birthday celebrations in Sydney. Thank you Bloggers United AU and Lush QVB for such a fabulous event!

  24. Awesome post Ingrid - you conveyed the fun and excitement so well, I really felt like I was there ♥ I have a problem with Lush - when I go into the store, I find it impossible to decide what to buy, so I invariably walk out empty handed. So this article is really helpful - I'm making a beeline for The Comforter Shower Cream next time, and hopefully it'll break the spell lol ♥
