Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick Range - Review & Swatches

The Lipstick Revolution has arrived and it is a strong force to be reckoned with! The innovators at Rimmel London have created a new range of lipsticks called 'The Only 1', a no compromise, all-in-one lipstick!

I was lucky enough to be gifted the photographed 6 lipsticks from the range of 12 to trial. All 6 of them are winners!

Rimmel London 'The Only 1' Lipstick Range

The Only 1 lipstick range is completely different to Rimmel's last lipstick release, the Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate Nude Collection lipsticks, which I reviewed HERE.

The Only 1 lipstick shades are intense and high impact! Just look at these stunning, vibrant colours!

Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipsticks

The shades, from left to right, are:
  • 120 You're All Mine - a beautiful pink
  • 110 Pink A Punch - a knockout bright pink
  • 200 It's A Keeper - a nudey pink
  • 600 Peachy-Beach - an eye catching peachy coral
  • 510 Best Of The Best - a ravishing red
  • 700 Naughty Nude - a beautiful brown.

I found all these shades to be ultra-comfortable to wear. They felt lightweight on my lips and looked creamy and shiny. The colour lasted for four hours until I had to reapply after eating lunch. Even when the intense colour wore off I was left with a flattering, even stain on my lips.

According to Rimmel "a fine blend of advanced polymers sets the formula and enhances skin-adhesion for outstanding staying power".

These lipsticks contain Rosa fruit oil and Vitamin E which left my lips feeling beautifully moisturised whilst wearing the lipsticks.

I found these lipsticks easy to apply. They all glided on easily in one swipe.

Rimmel The Only 1 Swatches

Rimmel The Only 1 Swatches

I also have to mention the scent of these lipsticks! I love it! They all have a lovely fruity scent which wafts through the air whilst you are applying the lipstick but then dissipates once the lipstick is on.

Finally, as you would have probably spotted in the above photos by now, these Rimmel The Only 1 lipstick packagings have a convenient colour band towards the bottom, indicating the shade of each lipstick. This makes it easy to grab the shade you want without having to open them all to find the shade you're after.

My conclusion after trialing these lipsticks is that they definitely provide a powerful pout! I'm happy to have these Rimmel The Only 1 new revolution of lipsticks in my makeup arsenal!

These lipsticks are priced at an affordable $15.95.

Which of the above lipstick shades appeals to you the most?

  • A lot of us were curious about the contents of the January 2016 Lust Have It Beauty Box as reviewed by Angela on A Bella Adventure

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag

Oops! The temptation was too strong! Much as I tried to resist the urge to visit Priceline and buy $40 of hair care products to obtain their hair care gift bag valued at over $200, I couldn't! I caved in! So let me share with you the contents of this gift bag that I couldn't resist.

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag February 2016

Before looking at the contents themselves however the bag itself deserves a mention. The hair care gifts are contained in a fabulous tote bag with a sunny yellow zigzag design, zippered top and suede-like hanging tassel decoration. I can see myself using this tote bag quite a bit! Now looking at the contents!

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag Contents

There were quite a few intensive conditioning treatment masks in the gift bag.

Priceline Hair Care Bag - Treatment Products

Al'chemy Ginko & Jojoba Intensive Moisture Hair Masque 150ml
I've seen quite a few photos of Al'chemy products on Instagram and am looking forward to trying this one. It smells divine!

Pantene Pro-V 3 Minute Miracle Intensive Treatment Program 15ml
The packaging states this product is aimed to help with severely damaged hair to help reduce split ends. Sounds good.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Deep Hydrating Conditioning Treatment 50ml
I'm looking forward to pampering my hair with this treatment. I'm happy this is a sulfate free treatment.

Hask Coconut Monoi Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner 50g
I love coconut oil products. I strongly associate coconut oil with tropical holidays, so I'll be dreaming of Tahiti as I pamper and condition my hair with this product!

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag - Garnier & Elvive Contents

Garnier Color Sensation Intense Permanent Colour Cream in Intense Ruby
This striking colour is a good one for the approaching cooler months but not one that I will personally be using unfortunately. I have coloured my hair red before but it tends to make my face look extremely washed out and doesn't suit my colouring at all. Others may love it however.

L'Oreal Paris Elvive Post Colour Treatment 40ml
I have blonde highlights in my hair and hopefully this product will help to prolong these for me. I will definitely be using this product.

Priceline Hare Care Gift Bag
OGX Biotin, John Frieda & Schwarzkopf Contents

OGX Biotin Collagen Weightless Healing Oil Mist 118ml
The packaging states this product is designed to create the appearance of thicker, fuller and healthier looking hair. Yes please!!! I'm always looking for products which will make my hair appear fuller.

John Frieda Full Repair Oil Elixir 88ml
This product claims to smooth, shine and strengthen your hair and to reverse damage with every use. I'm very keen to start trying this product immediately too!

Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Satin Frizz Control Defrizz Cream 150ml
One of the main problems I have with my fine hair is frizz, so once again this is a product I look forward to using.

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag
Lady Jayne, Cedel & Batiste Contents

Lady Jayne Smoothies Velvet Elastics
I'm forever losing my hair elastics so I appreciate the inclusion of these luxury velvet elastics.

Cedel Conditioning Foam With Argan Oil 125g
I've actually already received a bottle of this product which I have yet to open so I will probably give this second bottle away to a friend.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Tropical 30g
The sound of this tropical variety, coconut and exotic, of this dry shampoo sounds intriguing. Dry shampoo is always useful, especially in this deluxe sample size. It's perfect for popping into my handbag for hair refreshing on the go!

Finally there were 6 vouchers in this gift bag also. Three for free products and three for $5 off various products.

Priceline Hair Care Gift Bag Free Product Vouchers

The free product vouchers were for:
  • Sol-Fine Crema Color Tube 65ml
  • Just For Men Shampoo-In Hair Color or Moustache & Beard Brush-In Colour Gel, and
  • Revlon ColourSilk Hair Colour
Priceline Hair Care Bag $5 Off Vouchers

The $5 off vouchers were for:
  • Schwarzkopf Live Salon Permanent Colour
  • Kardashian Beauty Hair Styling Range Product, and
  • John Frieda Colour Refreshing Gloss or Toner Range Product.
One of the main benefits of Priceline's gift bags is being able to discover new products I haven't tried before. There are so many products in this gift bag I haven't tried before which sound as though they are perfectly suited to my hair's needs. Hopefully I'll discover some new favourites.

Thus although I have been trying to finish up all my half used hair care products recently (see my February Empties post HERE) I'm glad I gave in to temptation on this occasion and obtained this amazing Priceline hair care gift bag! Keep an eye out for future reviews and empties posts detailing more info about these products.

What are your current hair care favourite products?

A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil

I've started using more and more natural products recently but one thing that I've found is that not all natural products are created equal.

The quality of the natural ingredients as well as the method of harvesting them and utilising them is also important.

That's where A'kin's Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil stars!

A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil

I use A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil as part of my evening skincare routine. I massage three to four drops of this rosehip oil into my face each night after my shower and cleansing my skin, before moisturising it.

At night I believe the skin absorbs more product as it rejuvenates and repairs whilst we sleep, without the competing environmental stressors that it faces (pun intended) during the day. As a result I like to use the highest quality natural products possible on my skin during this critical time.

A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil is certified organic and its ingredients are extracted in purest form using the award winning, supercritical CO2 method. This process uses extremely low temperatures allowing the optimum benefits from the fragile plants to be maintained.

Similar to cold pressed juices containing up to five times more vitamins, minerals and enzymes to regular centrifugally juiced drinks and thus being more nutritionally beneficial, so too the CO2 method of extraction maintains the purity of the ingredients in A'kin's Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil. This results in a more efficient product and a longer shelf life.

I also love that the only ingredients in A'kin's Rosehip Oil are certified organic rosa canina seed extract and certified organic rosa marinas (Rosemary) leaf extract. There are no "filler" ingredients.

A'kin also does not test on animals and all products are vegan and free from all sulfates, parabens and other potential nasties.

The true test of this product for me is the way my skin feels and looks in the morning - beautifully soft, smooth, radiant and hydrated, and thus more youthful!

A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil is priced at $19.95 for 23ml and is available from David Jones, Priceline, selected pharmacies and health food stores around Australia and online at www.akin.com.au.

What products do you use in the evenings?

At last week's link up party we had 13 wonderful bloggers link up a beauty related post each. The three most viewed posts, plus my pick of the posts, included the following:

Popular Linked Posts From The
Monday Makeup Madness #42 Link  Up Party

  • Di's 'A Beauty-Full Haul!' post on Max The Unicorn blog was popular. What could be better than a beauty and stationary haul! Oh Deer Sugar is a new brand to me that I haven't tried before. I love the sound of their Fruit Tingle Body Scrub.
  • Kats Colourings blog post reviewing Elizabeth Arden's True Love EDT was a delight to read. Kats is so descriptive in her writing. I always feel as if I can smell the fragrance she is describing and then I always crave to actually sniff the fragrances she is describing in real life.
  • Beth's 80's Beauty Flashback post on Almost Posh was a blast from the past! I'm old enough to remember the 80's! I remember thinking I was so cool at the time with my frosted lippie!
  • Finally my pick from last week's linked posts is Amy's review of the Essence Sheer and Shine Lipsticks Cute Nude and Candy Love on Health And Beauty Girl. I'm wanting both of these lipsticks now! I'm so happy that Essence is such an affordable brand.
I'd love you to join this week's Monday Makeup Madness link up party and if your post is one of the three most clicked upon I'll feature it in next week's link up post. I'll also pick one other linked post to feature. The rules of the link up are simple:

February Empties

Over the past month I have finished 18 hair care, makeup, cleansing and sun care products. Keep reading to see which of these products I've loved and why, which ones I'll be repurchasing and which ones I haven't loved and won't be repurchasing!

February Empties

My hair is naturally wavy and I tend to either straighten it with my GHD Straightener or curl it with my LuxCurly curling wand. I also regularly blow dry my hair. Despite all this heat abuse I subject my hair to it's in surprisingly good condition, something even my hairdresser remarked upon at my last appointment. I believe the reason for this is my religious use of the KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray whenever I'm applying any heat to my hair. In addition to protecting my hair from the heat of styling tools it also helps my hair maintain its style after straightening or curling. I love how my hair feels normal after using this spray, not crunchy or stiff which is how other hair products often leave my hair feeling.

Repurchase? Yes, already have.

February Hair Product Empties

bhave Rescue Intense Repair Shampoo
bhave Rescue Intense Repair Conditioner
bhave Deep Intense Conditioning Masque
I originally won a set of bhave Rescue hair products from Seduced By Beauty blog. It is not a product range I would have bought myself due to its expensive cost BUT having now used this product range and seen first hand its results on my hair it is my absolute holy grail brand of hair products! This range of products has tamed my frizz like no other products ever have!

If any one reading this has fine hair that tends to get frizzy and generally not behave (pun intended) then the bhave product range is worth a try especially prior to special occasions when you need your hair looking its best.

A cheaper way of trying these products rather than buying the full sized versions first up, is to purchase a travel set of 5 products from the range.

The cheapest place I've found to purchase bhave from is Alive Skin & Hair. They seem to price their products about $10 cheaper than the salons. Click HERE to shop. You might just find that bhave products are your holy grail hair products too, just like I did!

However having said the above, I don't use these products every single hair wash due to their expense but before any event or special occasion this is the shampoo, conditioner and serum (the serum is not an empty for me this month) I will always use. The bhave product range gives me salon fresh looking hair, it smooths my hair, gives it shine, nourishes and repairs it. My hair looks visibly better after I use these products! No wonder they have achieved holy grail status with me!

Repurchase? Absolutely YES! I have already repurchased them and I have also been lucky enough to win a travel set of bhave products from Bottled Beauty Blog. Whenever I see a competition for this brand's products I will always enter it! I can't recommend these products highly enough!

label.m Treatment Shampoo
I bought this shampoo a long time ago from my local Toni & Guy salon. I finished the conditioner first, as I always do and this leftover shampoo was left languishing on my bathroom shelf for ages. After a concerted effort to use up more of my already opened products I've now finally used it up.

Repurchase? No. I no longer frequent the Toni & Guy salon near me as it's closed down and this shampoo wasn't amazing  enough for me to track down a new supplier of it.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Conditioner
I received this full sized conditioner and matching shampoo in a Marie Claire The Parcel subscription box. I liked this conditioner and found it helped with reducing my hair's frizz and smoothing my hair but not quite to the extent of my holy grail bhave product range.

Repurchase? Probably yes, to use as my regular conditioner whilst saving the more expensive bhave conditioner for special occasions. I do still have some more already opened, almost finished hair products to finish off first.

February Makeup Empties

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance 9-in-1
I use this BB cream when I am in a hurry on work mornings. It is a super multi-tasking BB cream with an in built SPF 20. I find it quick, easy, convenient and effective to use.

Repurchase? Already have.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Sample
Giorgio Armani Fluid Master Primer Sample
I'd read quite a few raving reviews of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation so I obtained these samples to try it for myself.

Repurchase?  After trying these samples and finding them to be every bit as good as the reviews I'd read, although I didn't have any intention of buying these luxury products originally, I couldn't help but buy them. I guess that's what the retailers rely on when they give you samples of their products to trial. Shhh, don't tell my hubby whatever you do!

February Makeup Remover Empties

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
This is such a popular product, I'm sure you have all tried it for yourselves by now so I won't say any more about it, except it's effective and I love it.

Repurchase? Yes, after finishing off my similar Bioderma Hydrabio H2O I will be repurchasing the more reasonably priced Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water again as I find this equally as good as the more expensive Bioderma product.

Swisspers Makeup Pads
I found these makeup pads to be effective, soft and strong. I have no complaints about them.

Repurchase? To be honest, I'm not really that fussed on what brand of makeup pads I buy. It really just depends on which brand I see first when I need new ones. I'm sure I will repurchase this brand again at some stage but I won't go out hunting for it above all other brands.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
I received two sample packets of these makeup remover towelettes in two Marie Claire The Parcel subscription boxes. Once again I found these products to be effective and had no complaints about them.

Repurchase? Similar to the makeup pads I don't have a strong loyalty to one particular brand of makeup remover towelettes. Thus although I'm sure I will eventually repurchase this product I won't go searching for it above all other brands.

February Cleansing Empties

Physiogel Hypoallergenic Daily Moisture Therapy Body Wash
This product was an effective cleanser but as it is hypoallergenic it is free from any fragrances. I don't however have sensitive skin and don't need my products to be hypoallergenic. As regular readers of Fabulous and Fun Life know, I love fragrances. The scent of a product is an important aspect of the product for me that adds an element of luxury and enjoyment to it for me.

Repurchase? No. I prefer scented body washes.

MOR Triple-Milled Soap - Snow Gardenia
Unlike the last product listed, this one has the most divine scent of gardenias. It filled my bathroom with an amazing floral scent, so much so that I found myself wandering into the bathroom just to sniff this soap - lol! Unlike a lot of soaps it was also nourishing and hydrating, thanks to its inclusions of shea butter, vitamin E and sweet almond oil.

Repurchase? Definintely, as this MOR triple-milled Snow Gardenia soap added such an indulgent touch of luxury to my bathroom. Whenever I have friends or relatives sleeping over at my home I always make sure I have a divinely scented soap like this one in the guest bathroom for their use.

February Sunscreen Empties

Banana Boat Sport SPF 30+ Spray
I found this sunscreen to be effective and for my own use I loved the spray application of it with no need to rub it in. However I was horrified watching my twelve year old son liberally spraying it into the air with most of it missing his body completely!

Repurchase? Probably not as I'm now using SPF 50 sunscreens and also because I hate wastage. I would only buy a spray sunscreen for myself now and not for my kids. My kids will be using the traditional rub in sunscreens again from now on.

Hamilton Sensitive Sunscreen SPF 30+ Samples
These were languishing at the bottom of my daughter's bag and are out of date so out they go! Click here to see my recent post on the 9 big sunscreen mistakes you need to avoid making.

Repurchase? No as I'm making an effort to purchase only SPF 50+ sunscreens.

What products have you recently finished?
