My Amazing Marie Claire The Parcel Competition Win

A couple of months ago I was super lucky and blessed to be chosen as one of the three winners of the #lovemcparcel Marie Claire The Parcel Instagram competition. Entrants were required to post a photo of their Marie Claire The Parcel subscription boxes on Instagram tagging it with #lovemcparcel and three random winners were selected. I still find it hard to believe that I was lucky enough to win! The prize included over $500 worth of beauty products and judging from the Instagram photos from the other two winners, each of our prizes were slightly different yet equally fabulous!

What did I win? Here's a photo of all the amazing beauty products I won.

#lovemcparcel Competition Prize

I couldn't believe my luck when I unwrapped this gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous NARS Hardwired Eye Kit! This eye kit really got my heart racing with its three shimmery eye shadows and 3 matte eye shadows!

The next item I unwrapped was this Revlon By Marchesa Brush Starter Kit. These are perfect little brushes for travelling or on the go makeup application and fixing up as they come with their own pretty carry case.

I love multi-tasking products that save me time in the mornings as I am nearly always running late to get out of the house in time to start work at 7am. This Nivea Q10 plus Anti-Wrinkle CC cream is just such a time-saving multi-tasking product!

Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle CC Daily Moisturiser
I was also excited to see one of my favourite products included in this prize. I always carry a tube of this OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go in my handbag as my hands have a tendency to dry out especially around my cuticles. It's good to have a back up of this product.

OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go

I love OPI Nail Lacquers so I was happy to receive the Amore at the Grand Canal shade from OPI's new Venice Collection, a stunning red shade. Red nails always look elegant, sexy and sophisticated. This shade will be perfect for wearing on my fingers and toes.

OPI Amore At The Grand Canal

This Maybelline New York Big Eyes Eyeliner with its dual ends, one white, the other black will come in handy. The body of the eyeliner is thicker than my current eyeliner and easier to hold and use.

Maybelline New York Big Eyes Eyeliner

I love trying lipsticks from brands I haven't tried before and I've never tried any of the Urban Decay lipsticks. The shade I received is Matte After Dark. In real life the shade is darker than in my photo below. For some reason I just couldn't capture the true shade of this lipstick in my photo.

Urban Decay Matte After Dark Lipstick

The Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist: Desert Lime & Amino+Peptide is from a brand I haven't seen before. It's a facial hydrating mist formulated with potent peptides, hyaluronic acid & antioxidants to visibly hydrate, soften, soothe & noticeably boost skin radiance reducing the visible signs of ageing. Yes please! This sounds perfect for my 40+ year old skin and I'm sure that I will be reaching for this product a lot in the warmer months.

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist + Desert Lime & Amino-Peptide

This Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Night Radiant Overnight Creme/Mask is another of my favourite products from my prize pack. I have been loving sampling the 5ml Estee Lauder products Marie Claire has included in some of the previous The Parcel beauty subscription boxes. I have loved each one of them but these products are expensive, so although I've wanted to buy them after finishing my deluxe samples, to date I haven't, simply due to their cost. So I feel totally blessed and spoilt to receive a full size jar of this luxurious Estee Lauder Night Cream/Mask. I will saviour every single application of it!

This next product is another new one to me. It's a Marine Enzyme Polishing Powder by Karpati 100% Natural Skincare. This is another product I am really excited to start using.

Karpati 100% Natural SKincare Marine Enzyme Polishing Powder

I was happy to receive this John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque. It matches the John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner that I received in the recent Special Anniversary Edition of The Parcel (see my review of the Special Anniversary Edition of The Parcel here).

Finally I've saved my absolute favourite product from this prize until last to reveal to you. As the regular readers of Fabulous and Fun Life blog would know by now I LOOOOVE fragrances. And this Versace Eros Pour Femme Eau De Parfum is the sexiest fragrance I currently own! I am sure I will be doing a separate blog post on this fragrance, as well as some of the other great products that I received in this prize. Let me know if there is anything you would particularly like a review of.

Thank you so much to The Parcel Team for this amazing prize. I really appreciate each and every product you chose for me! I feel unbelievably blessed and totally spoilt!

Monday Makeup Madness #25 Link Up Party

Welcome to Monday Makeup Madness #25 Link Up Party!

All bloggers are welcome to join in and link up a makeup or beauty related post each.
All non-bloggers are also most welcome to join the party and enjoy reading the fabulous range of beauty blogs by the many amazing bloggers that all link up here each week.

Monday Makeup Madness #25 Link Up Party

The aim of the Monday Makeup Madness link up party is to share some beauty blogger love, strengthen our beauty blogger community, help all our blogs be seen by new readers and also enable our readers to discover some wonderful new beauty blogs and beauty products.

Last week we had a phenomenal 29 beauty bloggers link up a beauty related post each!

The three most viewed posts from last week's link up party plus one of my favourite posts were:

3 Most Popular Linked Posts From Last Week's
Link Up Plus One Of My Favourites

  • Di from Max The Unicorn blog wrote a popular post about her 40% off Maybelline haul from Priceline plus ranted about Priceline's over-zealous use of packaging, especially their use of sticky tape which is so difficult to remove, breaks our nails trying to remove it and leaves a residue once it is removed!
  • Kats Colourings blog post "Confessions Of A Body Washaholic Part 12" was also popular. Kat must be the cleanest blogger ever and the most divinely scented one after using all these heavenly scented body washes. If you need any advice about body washes she is definitely the expert in this field!
  • A lot of us enjoyed peeking at Lily from Lily Not Louise's September Empties post. It's always interesting to see what products beauty bloggers are loving and finishing.
  • My pick of the posts from last week went to Amy from Health and Beauty Girl blog for her review of the Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara that she received to trial through the BzzAgent site. Judging from her photos this mascara is pretty impressive!
I'd love you to join this week's Monday Makeup Madness link up and if your post is one of the three most clicked upon I'll feature it in next week's link up post. I'll also pick one other linked post to feature. The rules of the link up are simple:
  • Link up one makeup or beauty related post a week only.
  • Include a link back to Fabulous and Fun Life in your post.
  • Visit and comment on three or more linked posts. Remember the more you comment on other beauty bloggers' posts the more likely they will be to return the love by visiting and commenting on your blog.
  • This link up starts each Monday morning (Sydney time) and will remain open until late Wednesday evening.

If you would like to pin your linked posts to the Monday Makeup Madness pinterest group board follow Fabulous Fun Life on pinterest (this is a pinterest requirement not mine) and I'll invite you to join this board as a co-pinner. All bloggers who participate in the Monday Makeup Madness link up party are welcome to become co-pinners of this group board. It's another great way to get your posts seen by new readers.

Finally, please share the link to this Monday Makeup Madness link up party on your blogs & social media accounts to help get the word out among more beauty bloggers, inviting them to join in & share some beauty blogger love with us! We will all benefit from more participants and readers. I absolutely love discovering new beauty blogs to read, comment on and follow!

Let the link up party fun begin!

Marie Claire The Parcel - Special Anniversary Edition - Beauty Subscription Box Review

I love this time of year, Spring is my favourite season! The sky is blue, the weather is warming up, the birds are chirping and the flowers are fragrant and blooming!

Being a new season also means it's time for a new Marie Claire The Parcel box! It's an extra special season in terms of the Marie Claire The Parcel boxes too. Not only is it 12 months since the release of the first Marie Claire The Parcel box but Marie Claire magazine is celebrating the big 2-0 and thus to celebrate they have compiled a Special Anniversary Edition of The Parcel!

So without further ado, let's discover what this latest, Special Anniversary Edition of The Parcel box contains!

Special Anniversary Edition Marie Claire The Parcel
Beauty Subscription Box

Listed below are the products I received in the Marie Claire The Parcel Special Anniversary Edition. I have quoted the product information that The Parcel provides on its information card in italic print and I've followed this with my comments in normal print.

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum
Deluxe Sample Size: 10 ml. Value: $26.67. (Full sized 30ml: $80)

Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum

"If multi-tasking is your middle name, you expect your skincare to work just as hard as you do. This clever serum claims to understand the particular needs of your skin, providing custom repair for damage. Apply morning and night after cleansing to address inflammation, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and dullness."

This is one of the two products that I was most excited to see as an inclusion in this Special Anniversary Edition of the Marie Claire The Parcel. I have been wanting to try it for a while now. It sounds perfect for my 40+ year old skin. I really hope it lives up to its hype and I'm glad of the opportunity to try it before deciding whether or not to purchase a full size version of it.

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge EDP
Sample Size: 1.5 ml. Value: $3.60. (Full sized 50ml: $120)

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge

"A new feminine fragrance inspired by the glamorous, more provocative side of the original Modern Muse. A sexy contrast of rich roses awakened by ripe fruits, with a velvet creme accord."

As I have said in previous posts, I absolutely LOVE fragrances! Thus I was totally excited to finally see the inclusion of a fragrance in the Marie Claire The Parcel boxes! And such a fabulous fragrance at that! I hope there are many more fragrance inclusions in future boxes.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner
Full Size: 250 ml each. Value: $15.99 each

John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner

"Love the heat, but hate the frizz? Then it's time to reconsider your haircare. Sleek strands begin with the right shampoo and conditioner: Frizz Ease Smooth Start promises to start blocking frizz in the shower for easier styling. Powered by the exclusive Frizz-Mending Complex and enriched with natural olive oil, it smooths strands, replenishes moisture and restores hair's natural defence against humidity."

Having recently discovered my holy grail shampoo and conditioner I'm probably not as excited as I would have previously been about receiving this new full sized shampoo and conditioner to try. Having said that, if these products are as good as my newly found ones, I'll be ecstatic, as these John Frieda products are significantly cheaper. It will be interesting to see how these products perform. Fingers crossed!

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick
Full Size. Value: $21.95

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick In Perfect Red (377)

"Happy birthday to this lipstick icon! There's nothing like a slick of lippy to instantly make you feel more glamorous or even daring, and over the past 30 years, L'Oreal Paris has released an incredible 350 shades to help women look good and feel great. Available in Perfect Red, Matte Ouhlala, Matte Erotique and Matte Mon Jules."

I was happy with the Perfect Red shade I received. A sexy red always makes me feel more confident. This will be perfect for evenings out.

MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk
Deluxe Sample Size: 50 ml. Value: $3.50 (Full sized 500ml: $34.95)

MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk

"Cloak your skin with the hypnotic floral scent of Rosa Noir. This silky Hand & Body Milk contains a luxe blend of shea butter and macadamia oil to nourish, while extracts of wild rose, hibiscus and fig revitalise and hydrate"

MOR is one of my favourite bath & body brands. I love the divine fragrances of their products. I look forward to luxuriating my skin with this product.

Redwin Coconut Balm
Full Size: 25 g Value: $5.99

Redwin Coconut Balm

"Powered by 100 per cent certified organic coconut oil, there are so many uses for this multi-tasking ointment: repair dry hands, heal elbows and lips, or soothe burns, cuts and insect bites."

This sounds like a great multi-tasking product which will be handy to keep in my handbag.

St Tropez Gradual Tan in Shower
Deluxe Sample Size: 50 ml. Value: $10 (Full sized 200ml: $39.99)

"Introducing the first ever in-shower fake tanning lotion. It promises a streak-free gradual glow, plus up to 24 hour hydration. But how does it work? Apply to wet skin in the shower, working from your ankles upwards. As with all tanning leave your hands and feet until last and quickly rinse your palms. Wait three minutes before rinsing and then pat dry. Your tan will develop throughout the day. Repeat daily."

I am not a self tanner so I will be passing this product on to a friend who is.

Conclusion
In conclusion, this Special Anniversary Edition of Marie Claire's The Parcel contained $103.69 worth of products for the cost of $25 if you have a seasonal subscription or $29.95 if you bought it as a one-off box.

This, like all The Parcel boxes, is brilliant value! In a way however I almost expected more from this Special Anniversary Edition. I expected this Special Anniversary Edition box to surpass all the previous boxes which I don't think it did. See my past reviews of their Spring EditSummer EditAutumn Edit, Winter Edit and Ageless Beauty boxes in these links.

I think this box did however equal the previous boxes and I am very happy with it. There is only one product in this box which I won't use. I'd love to hear what other subscribers of this box thought.

  • We all loved seeing Christina from Love That Lippie blog's ColourPop collection and how she stores it so beautifully.
  • Kat's post on Kats Colourings blog reviewing the Nude By Nature Mineral Lipsticks was also popular. These lipsticks look so wonderfully creamy and pigmented.

  • And thank you to those who read and commented on the Katy Perry Mad Potion review on Fabulous and Fun Life. I've been totally loving this oriental musk perfume over the past couple of weeks.

BeautyHeaven's Best In Beauty Market Place Event

BeautyHeaven recently hosted their first Best In Beauty Market Place event. This event was a prelude to their Best In Beauty Awards which are currently running here on their website until 21 September 2015.

The Best in Beauty Awards are an annual event that celebrate cult favourites and hero beauty products as voted by us, the public!

Beauty brands submit their best seller products to BeautyHeaven and then the public votes on their favourites. There are 70 categories with over 1000 products!

The Best In Beauty Market Place event showcased six different products from the Best of Beauty Awards.

BeautyHeaven Best In Beauty Market Place

Firstly they showcased Skin Physics' Dragon's Blood Facial Sculpting Gel. At home, my son was super impressed when he read the "Dragon's Blood" label, I was super impressed as soon as I started trialing the product!

Next we were shown the SunSense Moisturising Face SPF50+. Perfect for the upcoming warmer weather! I know I will be pulling this out of my bag daily!

Rimmel London showcased their Brow This Way Brow Styling Gel and matched us to our appropriate shade of this product.

I've always envied women with beautiful, elegant, long and strong nails. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever quite have the nails I dream of but two products at BeautyHeaven's Best in Beauty Market Place should definitely help improve the condition of my nails.

Firstly Manicare's Ergonomic 4-Way Buffer makes it easy to quickly buff and shine nails. It has four different surfaces to smooth out the ridges and nail surface, and then create a glossy nail in seconds.

BeautyHeaven Best In Beauty Market Place - Manicare
Buffing nails before applying nail polish helps the polish adhere better and thus last longer. It also makes the next product more effective, that is Revitanail's Nail Strengthener.

Revitanail's Nail Strengthener is a 28 day program to strengthen your nails. It reportedly hardens, strengthens and protects nails. Revitanail's Nail Strengthener is fortified with calcium gel and helps to eliminate peeling, flaking and chipping, whilst also benefiting slow growing nails. I can't wait to see how this improves my nails!

Revitanail Nail Strengthener

Last but not least we were shown the Glam By Manicare Miranda Lashes. It was such a treat to have them applied. They open up the eye area and make such a glamourous difference!

As mentioned above there are over 1000 products listed in BeautyHeaven's Best In Beauty Awards 2015 in over 70 categories! Make sure you go to the BeautyHeaven website here before 21 September 2015 and vote for your favourite holy grail products! I can't wait to see which products end up being the winners in each category!
