Brite Organix - Pink Hair To Celebrate Spring!

Spring is finally in the air, the sun is out, flowers are blooming and birds are chirping! So what's a girl to do but give her hair a celebratory spring makeover - pink and curly!

Yes, after being inspired by numerous Instagram photos of girls with pink hair I could resist no longer, especially after I heard about Brite Organix Ethical Hair Colour One Day Colour For Dark Hair.

Brite One Day Colour is:
  • vegan
  • PETA accredited, and
  • ethically produced.

Brite Organix One Day Colour For Dark Hair in Pastel Pink
This temporary colour was super quick and easy to apply. I applied it onto my dry hair after my shower before getting dressed. To prevent my hands from turning pink I used disposable gloves. All you need to do is open the bottle, tip some colour into your gloved hand and then using your finger tips work it through your hair where you want the colour to be. It's honestly that simple!

When the colour is wet it can transfer onto clothing, hands and anything else it comes in contact with. This is the reason for me applying it after my shower and before I got dressed. I did get a little bit of colour onto my face and shoulders but this was easy to remove using makeup wipes.

The instructions say you can leave your hair to dry naturally or use a hair dryer. As my hair was quite wet from the colour and I am not the most patient person I used my hairdryer! Five to ten minutes later my hair was dry and the colour was no longer transferable.

I then styled my hair using my Luxcurly Lux Natural auto rotating curling iron. The result -quick and easy girly pink and curly hair - perfect for spring!

Pink & Curly Spring Hair
Please note that I wore this black top to showcase to you the colour I achieved in my hair with this product. After taking the above photo I promptly changed into a spring friendly floral dress appropriate for celebrating not only spring but also my mum's surprise 80th birthday party!

I kept this pretty pink colour in my hair for 4 days. During this time no colour whatsoever transferred onto either my white bed linen or my clothes. Yay!

For those of you wondering how easy it was to remove this colour after 4 days, let me tell you it was easy peasy lemon squeezy! I simply shampooed my hair and the colour was gone! Just to be on the safe side I did double shampoo my hair before conditioning it but this was probably unnecessary. The instructions merely say to shampoo it once to remove.

Brite Organix One Day Colour for dark hair is affordably priced at $14.99. I estimate that the one 50ml bottle would be enough for at least 3 applications for me. This product also comes in Pastel Purple, as well as the Pastel Pink that I used. More information is available on the Brite Organix website HERE

Do you change your hair colour or style with the seasons?
Would you consider colouring your hair pink?

Ageless Beauty - The Parcel - Beauty Subscription Box Review

Although I had self-imposed a limit of subscribing to one beauty box only, when I saw the ads for the new Ageless Beauty Parcel I knew I had to subscribe to this one too!

Ageless Beauty Parcel Subscription Box

After receiving this inaugural box last month I am so glad I did! It truly is a beauty! Full of amazing products aimed at younger looking skin from cream to serum to wrinkle and spot faders! Perfect for my ageing 40+ year old skin and brilliant value like all the other The Parcel boxes!

Ageless Beauty Parcel Contents

Listed below are the products I received in this first ever Ageless Beauty Parcel. I have quoted the product information that The Parcel provides on its information card in italic print and I've followed this with my comments in normal print. Products are listed in alphabetical order.

Boots Laboratories Serum 7 Day Cream
Full Size: 50 ml RRP: $34

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Serum 7
"A light, easily absorbed moisturiser that protects your skin and targets fine lines. Skin feels softer, smoother and looks younger."

This sounds like a promising moisturiser that should meet my 40+ year old skin's needs perfectly. I'm looking forwards to using it.

Boots Laboratories Serum 7 Night Cream
Full Size: 50 ml RRP: $34

"A rich moisturiser that intensely hydrates your skin overnight. Skin is left feeling soft, smooth and radiant."

I love that the Ageless Beauty Parcel has included the matching set of day and night moisturisers from Serum 7. There's beneficial synergy to using matching day and night moisturisers rather than mixing different brands.

Designer Brands - Pressed Powder
Full Size: 11.9g RRP: $11.99

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Designer Brands Pressed Powder

"DB's Firming Age Revive Pressed Powder helps to minimise shine and creates a soft finish that doesn't cake or flake. Use alone or over foundation, the innovative formula is lightweight and infused with sericite mica to give skin a soft, smooth as silk finish."

I have read so many great reviews of Designer Brands makeup products recently that I'm excited to see if this product lives up to those other reviews. Based on previous Marie Claire The Parcel subscription box products I have received I dare say this product will be amazing also!

Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum
Deluxe Sample Size 7ml Value: $22.17
(30ml RRP: $95 50ml RRP: $140)

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Estee Lauder

"This intensive serum helps reduce the look of uneven skintone with the most comprehensive correcting technology from Estee Lauder. Instantly skin looks and feels fresh and hydrated."

I have loved trying the other Estee Lauder products I have received in the seasonal Marie Claire The Parcel boxes. It's fantastic that this Ageless Beauty Parcel box also includes a high end Estee Lauder product that I wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to try.

Madame Flavour Tea
35g (mini) RRP: 75c.

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Madame Flavour Tea

"This thoughtful blend is for slowing down, calming down and stopping... If only for a few minutes, as you gently infuse the pod and inhale the fine citrus notes of Australian lemon myrtle and organic lemongrass that bring instant clarity. Every time you find yourself pulled into the whirlwind of life, this blend can help transport you to a place inside where it's peaceful."

I don't drink tea and am thus not interested in this product. I don't think it really fits into the "Ageless Beauty" theme. It won't go to waste however as my husband will enjoy it.

Revlon Line Filler
Full Size: 12.2ml RRP: $26.95

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Revlon Age Defying

"After using this non-injectable wrinkle filler, 90 per cent of women said their skin looked fuller and more plumped. The lightweight, colourless formula with hyaluronic acid instantly fills deep lines and wrinkles, visibly smoothing the skin and readying it for flawless makeup appplication."

Yes please! This product sounds like exactly what my 40+ year old skin needs! I hope it delivers on its promises.

TRESemme YOUTH BOOST Youth Correcting Essence
Full Size: 50 ml RRP: $10.99

Ageless Beauty Parcel - TRESemme Youth Boost

"New TRESemme YOUTH BOOST Youth Correcting Essence leave-in treatment penetrates each hair strand to restore youthful softness and shine in just one use. With a combination of patented technologies and skin-inspired ingredients, it contains three times more Omega-3s and antioxidants than the core range."

It's good to see a hair product included in this inaugural Ageless Beauty Parcel! I've noticed some minor changes in my hair over the years and hopefully this treatment will help to address these.

Also included in this Ageless Beauty Parcel box was a bonus Revlon $5 discount voucher.

Ageless Beauty Parcel - Revlon Discount Voucher

Overall, apart from the tea, I love all the products in this Ageless Beauty Parcel subscription box.

Not only does this box allow me to try numerous age appropriate beauty products aimed at younger looking skin, it's also brilliant value for money. The Ageless Beauty Parcel costs $25 for a one-off subscription or there is the more economical special launch offer of $20 per box for 4 boxes which is what I subscribed to.

I'd definitely recommend trying this new Ageless Beauty Parcel to any beauty lover interested in younger looking skin.

The Parcel has a strong track history of producing amazing value beauty subscription boxes with fabulous products. For those interested in seeing what the Marie Claire The Parcel subscription boxes look like, click on the following links. I have previously reviewed The Parcel Winter EditThe Parcel Autumn Edit, The Parcel Summer Edit and The Parcel Spring Edit.

Which of the above Ageless Beauty Parcel products appeals to you the most?

Last week's four most clicked upon linked up posts included:

Most clicked upon linked posts from the
Monday Makeup Madness #19 Link Up Party

  • Say Yip blog's 'I Heart Drugstore Makeup Tag' post was a popular one. Much as we all love higher end brands these are often too expensive to buy regularly so it's great to read which drugstore brands work best and which are dupes for the higher end brands.
  • Fatima from Lipsticks and Coffee blog posted a popular review of the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara which was included in this month's 20th Anniversary issue of Marie Claire magazine. Boy, did these magazines disappear fast off the shelves in my local shopping centre! I was lucky to get one myself!
  • Angela from A Bella Adventure blog posted a popular post on the Australian made, natural Billie Goat Soap Shampoo and Conditioner.
  • And finally, the most clicked on post from last week was by Christina from Love That Lippie blog who posted a review of the MAC 'The Matte Lip' collection with loads of gorgeous swatches and a thorough review. I find Christina's lipstick swatches so useful when considering which lipstick I would love to buy next!

Dermalogica Face Mapping Skin Analysis

I was so excited to be invited by beautyheaven to attend the exclusive Dermalogica Skin Mapping event at the end of last month.

Possibly too excited! I arrived at the Dermalogica Headquarters in Crows Nest, Sydney in the dark. Inside Dermalogica was all beautifully lit up and looked so inviting. I strode forwards to go through the entrance only to smack bang and I mean literally "SMACK BANG" walk straight into a glass wall!

The entrance door was actually one glass panel to my right! I don't know what hurt more, my acute embarrassment or my broken nose which was diagnosed by the specialist the next day!!!!

It could have been worse - beautyheaven was already filming inside. Luckily the camera was not pointed in my direction at the time!!!! Although looking back on it now, and no longer being in pain, I can laugh about it. It probably would have made a very funny video blooper!

Anyway, enough about me and my out of character klutziness, I'm sure what you really want to know about is Dermalogica, Face Mapping and the event, not my nose, so here goes!

Once safely inside we were warmly welcomed by Dermalogica Manager, Emma Hobson. Emma explained that Face Mapping is a skin analysis technique developed by Dermalogica using both Western and also traditional Chinese facial diagnoses techniques.

Dermalogica Manager Emma Hobson

Following a verbal consultation regarding our skin concerns, current skin care regime, lifestyle and sun history, the process of Face Mapping involves dividing our face into 14 distinct zones and then having the Dermalogica therapist, wearing magnifying glasses head gear with a light attached, conduct a close examination of our skin. The Dermalogica therapist uses touch and the magnified image of our skin to analyse our skin's current state and its needs.

Dermalogica Face Mapping Skin Analysis

In my case, I had the lovely Dermalogica therapist Rebecca identify my 40+ year old skin's main issue as hyper pigmentation. After examining my skin Rebecca documented her findings on a chart which I could take home. She then recommended two Dermalogica products best suited to addressing my skin's needs which were kindly gifted to me. I will review these products in a separate blog post at a later date. We also received a Dermalogica introductory skin care product kit.

Dermalogica Face Mapping Chart & Skin Care Products

Dermalogica Introductory Product Kit

Prior to my Face Mapping I also had my skin analysed by Dermalogica therapist Charlotte, using the Dermalogica Skin Scanner. This process involved placing my head under the cover of the skin scanner which then enabled Charlotte to examine my skin under the specialised light.

The Skin Scanner shows damage that might not yet be visible to the eye. Thanks to a mirror inside the Skin Scanner I could see exactly what Charlotte could see. It was a bit confronting to say the least. All the damage caused by my lack of sun protection in my younger days showed up as hyper pigmentation, especially on my forehead. The Skin Scanner also highlighted dehydration as an issue around my eye region.

Dermalogica Skin Scanner

I then had the moisture levels of my skin read using this little gizmo. The ideal levels are 60. My readings were 50.8 near my eyes and 40.5 lower down on  my cheek. I was pleasantly surprised my readings weren't even lower, given the results of the Skin Scanner.

Dermalogica Skin Moisture Level Reader
Overall I loved the accurate personalised aproach to skin care offered by the Dermalogica Face Mapping and Skin Scanning techniques. All too often the sheer range of products available can be overwhelming and due to our own lack of expert knowledge we don't always choose the most appropriate products for our skin ourselves. These Dermalogica techniques resulted in an accurate diagnosis of my skin's current needs and then recommended products specifically designed to meet my needs.

I highly recommend undergoing a Dermalogica Face Mapping Skin Analysis session. These sessions are complimentary, the experts are well trained, knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. They are happy to answer any skin care questions you may have and there is no pressure to purchase the recommended products. There really is no catch, just benefits!

Dermalogica Face Mapping is available at selected David Jones stores, Endota Spas and leading Dermalogica salons. You can locate your nearest Dermalogica Face Mapping expert by clicking HERE.

RosehipPLUS Product Reviews + GIVEAWAY

RosehipPLUS is an Australian owned family business that prides itself on sourcing and producing the finest Rosehip products that enhance inner health and beauty.

I was lucky to receive the entire range of RosehipPLUS products at the recent Sydney Glamour Affair event. You can read more about the Glamour Affair event here.

RosehipPLUS Products

I've been using the majority of these RosehipPLUS products for over a month now during Sydney's cold and dehydrating winter and I absolutely love them. They have been so nourishing and moisturising for my mature 40+ year old skin.

RosehipPLUS - Pure & Natural Rosehip Oil RRP: $19.95 30ml, $29.95 50ml

RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil

RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil is a 100% pure and natural Australian Certified Organic skincare product, cold pressed from the seeds of the Rosehip fruit.

Rosehip oil is rich in naturally occurring vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids including Omega 3, 6 and 9.

Rosehip oil may have the following benefits and uses:
  • reduce the appearance of stretchmarks and scars
  • maintain skin hydration and softness
  • improve appearance of dry and sensitive skin
  • minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • promote skin elasticity.
I've been using three to four drops of RosehipPLUS Rosehip oil massaged into my face nightly after my shower, after cleansing my face. I follow this up with massaging in the RosehipPLUS Nourishing Night Cream. Both these products absorb quickly into my skin and in the morning I've been waking up with beautifully soft, smooth, radiant and hydrated skin. Yay!

Rosehip oil is also a great multi-tasking product. In addition to using it on my face I have also been using it to:
  • soften the cuticles around my nails
  • combat the dry skin on my heels, knees and elbows
  • tame my fine, flyaway hair
  • nourish the ends of my hair.
Despite all these uses of my RosehipPLUS Rosehip oil the level of product in my bottle has hardly dropped at all. A few drops of this oil go a long way! I suspect this one 30ml bottle will last me all through winter and beyond!

RosehipPLUS - Pure & Natural Rosehip Oil Skin Boost Roll-On RRP: $14.95 15 ml

RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil Skin Boost Roll-On

The packaging of this product is brilliant! The only slight negative I have had about rosehip oils in the past has been that the packaging has not been travel friendly. I've always been hesitant to take it away with me on holidays or pop it into my handbag as I've been scared the bottle would break or leak and I would have oil throughout my bag!

Well now I need worry no longer! This nifty Rosehip Oil Skin Boost Roll-On comes in a secure plastic tube with a massaging roller ball top, and a screw on plastic lid. How convenient is this! I can now securely and safely throw this product into my handbag for beauty touch ups on the run during the day and when I go away on holidays with no fear of breakages or spillage. Pure genius RosehipPLUS!

The roller ball top allows for precision application of the oil to where I need it most, namely reducing the fine lines and wrinkles around my delicate eye area. When I'm out and about I can now easily apply this oil hygienically, without getting my hands oily. I love it!

RoseHipPLUS - Pure & Natural Hydrating Day Cream RRP: $19.95 75 ml

RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream & Nourishing Night Cream

I've been using the RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream daily in the mornings under my makeup. I like the lovely light consistency of this day cream, it hydrates my skin well and absorbs quickly, creating a smooth hydrated base surface for my makeup.

Like the other RosehipPLUS products, including the Nourishing Night Cream, this is also a 100% pure and natural Australian Certified Organic skincare product. The key ingredients include RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil, Chamomile, Avocado Oil and Rose Geranium.

RoseHipPLUS - Pure & Natural Nourishing Night Cream RRP: $29.95 50 ml

RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream & Nourishing Night Cream

The final product in the RosehipPLUS range that I tried was the Nourishing Night Cream.
The key ingredients include RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil, Cocoa Seed Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil and Shea Butter.

The Nourishing Night Cream comes in an air pump dispenser bottle, great for easy and hygienic dispensing.

As detailed above I've been using this product in conjunction with the Rosehip Oil following my daily evening shower, after cleansing my face. Like the day cream I've found the night cream to also have a lovely light consistency and to absorb quickly into my skin. In the mornings I've been waking up with beautifully soft, smooth, radiant and hydrated skin. It's no wonder I love these products.

I'd definitely recommend these products as effective hydration skincare products which result in a radiant, healthier looking skin. The fact that they are Australian Certified Organic and contain 100% pure and natural ingredients is a huge bonus in my eyes!
