OPI Hawaii: Is Mai Tai Crooked?

OPI's "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" is another of my favourite nail polish colours that I'm currently loving wearing. It's a gorgeous rockmelon/peach shade of orange from OPI's Hawaii collection.

Although I think it was intended as a summer colour it is also perfect for wearing in autumn, reminding me of the colour of autumn leaves. It nicely matches a number of trans-seasonal items in my wardrobe including my Three Parsons Floral Drape Cape Jacket, as seen in the background of all these photos.

"Is Mai Tai Crooked?" is a creamy formula which becomes completely opaque on my nails with its second coat. On the photos below I am wearing an OPI base coat, two coats of "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" and an OPI top coat.

Like the other OPI Hawaii collection nail polishes I've worn this one lasts well on my nails for 5 days, with small chips appearing on the 6th day. This is a great result for me as I do use my hands a lot at home and at work.

Being forever the bargain hunter, let me pass on the cheapest place I've found to buy OPI's Is Mai Tai Crooked? It's at Ry Australia, click HERE to shop.

What is your current favourite nail polish shade?
Do you wear different nail polish colours in different seasons?

Urban Rituelle White Peony & Rose Buds Bath & Body Indulgences

Australian bath and body care company Urban Rituelle believes that modern indulgence is all about celebrating life's simple pleasures and enhancing your daily rituals. I totally agree!

I was the lucky winner of Urban Rituelle's gorgeous and generous Instagram Mother's Day competition, winning not one, but two Urban Rituelle product hampers, one for my mum and one for me! Thank you so much Urban Rituelle, mum and I feel so blessed and pampered by your generosity, as does my daughter who I have also been sharing my prize with.

The products arrived beautifully boxed in a luxurious looking black embossed box secured by ribbon and included:

  • White Peony & Rose Buds Bath & Shower Gel
  • White Peony & Rose Buds Body Lotion, and
  • White Peony & Rose Buds Hand Therapy.

  • The products themselves look beautiful and stylish and I was happy to leave them out on display on my bathroom vanity.

White Peony & Rose Buds Bath & Shower Gel

This bath & shower gel lathers easily and leaves your skin feeling clean, soft & beautifully yet subtlely scented. It comes in an easy to use pump action bottle which I much prefer to flip top or screw lids.

This bath & shower gel contains the skin calming ingredients of Ginseng to revitalise & nourish your skin, Ginko Biloba for skin renewal, plus skin conditioning Chamomile Calendula & Witch Hazel to repair, soothe & soften your skin.

After spending my Mother's Day evening pampering myself in this manner let me tell you that I can't think of a more blissful way to spend a self indulgent evening than to relax in the bath luxuriating in Urban Rituelle's White Peony & Rose Buds Bath & Shower Gel's silky bubbles, pampering my skin, body and senses! Total heaven on earth!

    RRP: 500ml $28.50.

White Peony & Rose Buds Body Lotion

This botanically lush body lotion smells absolutely divine! Its floral scent is surprisingly refreshing, light & simply gorgeous! The lotion is lightweight, absorbs quickly & leaves your skin completely non-greasy yet feeling soft, supple & well hydrated.

This lotion contains abundant nourishing extracts, including skin conditioning Chamomile & Grape Seed Oil plus vitamin rich Ginseng to rejuvenate & revitalise your skin. It also contains Shea Butter & Macadamia Oil to provide intensive, lasting moisture, while Calendula & Aloe Vera renew & restore dry skin. All in all it's a perfect product for my 40+ year old skin. It's no wonder my skin felt so soft, smooth, supple & hydrated after use.

Layered  with the Bath & Shower Gel, the delightfully fresh & beautiful White Peony and Rose Buds scent lingered on my skin for several hours.

    RRP: 235ml $22.50.

White Peony & Rose Buds Hand Therapy

This hand therapy product left my hands and cuticles feeling beautifully soft, smooth, nourished and hydrated. Like the body lotion it absorbed quickly and well into my skin. Coming into the dehydrating winter season I can see this product being my go-to hand therapy product. Like the other Urban Rituelle White Peony and Rose Buds products it is also divinely scented and the scent lingered on my skin for quite some time! Yay!

This hand therapy product is rich in botanical extracts. Sweet Almond & Jojoba Oils instantly soften dry hands & re-condition split cuticles, while soothing Shea Butter & Vitamin E are included to protect the skin against the elements. This product is also enriched with Ginseng, Aloe Vera & Chamomile to heal parched skin, whilst Ginko Biloba is included to promote skin renewal. Perfect hand therapy ingredients!

    RRP: 100ml $20.96.

Once again thank you so much Urban Rituelle for this amazingly gorgeous and generous prize. Mum & I both feel so blissfully & divinely pampered from head to toe!

What bath or body care products have you recently indulged in?

    Veet Hair Removal Product Reviews

Can I just say up front that hair removal is one of my least favourite self maintenance tasks!
So you'd think that going into the winter season where my legs are more often than not completely covered with either stockings, tights, leggings or long pants I'd have a break from this repetitive task for a bit. Well, this would be logical but for the fact that I love the sensation of having smooth hair-free legs. It doesn't matter that almost no one else will see my legs, I will see them, I will feel them and I will know! So even in winter I continue to rid my legs of hair, predominantly by shaving.

So when the opportunity arose to review a range of Veet hair removal products I jumped at it in the hope of discovering a better and longer lasting method than shaving.

The Veet products I was provided with for review included:
    • Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
    • Veet Natural Inspirations Face, Bikini & Underarm Wax Strips with Natural Shea Butter
    • Veet Natural Inspirations Sugar Wax with Natural Argan Oil
    • Veet Natural Inspirations Hair Removal Cream with Grape Seed Oil

This product is an electrical self heating wax system with a roll-on applicator designed for leg and arm hair removal. A different sized refill with a smaller roll-on head is also available for purchase and use with this product making it suitable for underarm and bikini areas. This product is advertised as being suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.

As a beginner home waxer, prior to using this product, I watched the how-to video on Veet's website. It reassured me just how simple this product is to use. Even so however, being new to DIY waxing I trialled this product on my legs only.

Clicking the cartridge into the holder and plugging it in was simple. I heated up the wax in the holder for 20 minutes. As the wax did not glide onto my legs easily at this stage I then continued heating up the wax for another 20 minutes.

Applying the wax in the direction of my hair growth it now glided on smoothly after this extra heating time. I then placed the strip over the wax, smoothed it down several times to ensure it was adhering well to the wax, held my skin taut, then pulled the strip off against the direction of the hair growth.

The majority of my hairs were removed in this first go but I did need to repeat this process a couple of times to remove the remaining stubborn hairs along that section. To finish off with I used the provided finishing wipes to remove the wax still left on my leg. The overall results were excellent.

This process is definitely more time consuming than shaving my legs, especially when you take the 40 minutes heating time into consideration as well, but the benefit is definitely the longer time frame before needing to deal with hair removal again! Due to this fact, also because this process is relatively simple, mess-free and easy, I will be continuing to wax my legs whenever I'm not in a last minute rush!

Veet Natural Inspirations Face, Bikini & Underarm Wax Strips with Natural Shea Butter ($11.49)

These wax strips were easy, safe and convenient to use with minimal fuss or mess. You warm up the wax strips by rubbing them between your hands. There is no other heating required. You then peel the strips apart and apply them to your skin. After rubbing them a couple of times in the direction of your hair growth to make sure they are well adhered, you simply hold your skin taut and then quickly pull the strip back against the direction the hair grows. To finish off you use the provided Perfect Finish Wipes to remove any wax that may have been left on your skin. If you run out of wipes you can use baby oil instead. Water, soap or alcohol won't work.

I found I had to use the wax strips on each area a couple of times to remove all the hairs and it was a bit tricky determining the direction of my underarm hairs but with more practice I'm sure my technique will improve. It was also a bit hard to position the wax with its surrounding material on my face where needed but once again I'm sure with more practice my technique will improve. Thanks to the added natural shea butter my skin was left not only smooth but also soft and moisturised. I loved the convenience of this method of hair removal.

Veet Natural Inspirations Sugar Wax with Natural Argan Oil ($15.49)

I found this product a little bit trickier and messier to use than the Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll-On kit and the Veet Wax Strips products above. With this Veet Natural Inspirations Sugar Wax product you need to heat the full jar of wax either in the microwave or in boiling water. I chose to use the microwave as it was simpler, easier, quicker and safer. There is a risk of overheating this wax but luckily Veet have developed a safety system involving the blue rectangle you can see on the spatula in the photo above. You can check the temperature of the wax with it, if you can see the blue rectangle the wax is safe to use, if the word "NO" appears the wax is too hot and should be left to cool down a bit before use.

I did have good results with this product and I liked the inclusion of Argan Oil in the product. After waxing my skin felt soft and moisturised.

Veet Natural Inspirations Hair Removal Cream with Grape Seed Oil ($9.49).

I liked this product. It was easy to use. You simply apply the Veet Cream using the plastic spatula provided to spread the cream to fully coat the hairs, wait for 5 minutes and then use the spatula again to wipe off the cream and your hairs with it. You then rinse your skin thoroughly to ensure no cream is left on your skin. The instructions advised that this cream is suitable for legs, arms, underarms & bikini line only BUT not on your face or any other body part.

Once again my legs felt moisturised after using this product, this time due to the inclusion of Grape Seed Oil .

    Click HERE to buy.

Overall I was happy with all the above Veet hair removal products. For more info about these and other Veet hair removal products go to the Veet website. For people new to Veet products like myself the hair removal how to guides will be really useful.

Trialing these products has certainly opened my eyes to effective hair removal options other than shaving.

Do you continue with hair removal in winter?
Or do you have a break from this task?
    What methods do you use?

Last week we had 13 lovely beauty bloggers link up a post each. The two Maybelline posts were among the four most popular and clicked upon links.

Firstly Christina from Love That Lippie posted "Pinch Yo' Cheeks Girl!" reviewing the new Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Sticks. Then Kats from Kats Colouring blog reviewed Maybelline's COLORdrama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils. Both of these posts have inspired me to check these products out next time I'm in Priceline.

Di's post on Korres Mango Lip Butter was another popular post definitely worth checking out on her Max The Unicorn blog. This was a new product I hadn't heard of before.

Then finally my Fabulous and Fun Life blog post on Aceing Your Base with Rimmel London's 9-in-1 BB Radiance Cream and Rimmel London's Lasting Finish 25 HR Powder Foundation was also in the top 4 most clicked on posts.

Recent Empties + MOR & Ted Baker Limited Edition Luxury Soap

In the past couple of weeks I have finished quite a few beauty products. Keep reading to see which products I've finished, which of these products I've loved and why, which of these I will repurchase and which I definitely won't be repurchasing!

    Chanel No.5
Chanel No.5 is my all time favourite fragrance! Knowing my bottle was almost finished for a while, I've been using it very sparingly trying to make it last longer but alas my bottle is now completely empty!

Luckily it is a refillable bottle and I will definitely be purchasing a refill for it! Much as I love discovering and trying new fragrances, Chanel No.5 is one fragrance I will always repurchase! I absolutely love it!

Subtle Energies Rose & Cardamon Hand Cream (Sachet)
This Subtle Energies hand cream is one of the most effective hand creams I have ever tried. It is a luxurious, rich cream which absorbs well and left my hands feeling soft, nourished, hydrated and rejuvenated BUT unfortunately cardamon is not one of my favourite scents! I tried to love this cream, I really did, firstly because it felt so beautifully luxurious, secondly because it's so effective, and thirdly because a while ago I won a full sized tube of it but unfortunately I couldn't! I just don't like the scent of cardamon!

It was lucky I opened my sample of this hand cream and not my full sized tube. My loss will now be my mum's gain. I will be adding my full size tube of this hand cream into my mum's pamper hamper that I have put together for her this mother's day. Unlike me she does not have an aversion to the scent of cardamon.

Natio Lavender And Rosemary Hand And Nail Cream
This was a beautifully scented hand cream. It was non greasy, absorbed well into my skin and left my hands feeling soft, smooth and supple. I liked the fact that this product also helped strengthen my nails.

It is well priced at $9.95 and I will possibly repurchase this product again in the future once I finish the additional 3 or 4  hand creams I have stocked up and waiting in my bathroom cupboard. I swear hand creams seem to magically multiply in my bathroom cupboard!

MOR Emporium Classics Snow Gardenia Triple-Milled Soap
I received the divine gardenia scented triple-milled soap in the Autumn Edit of Marie Claire's The Parcel subscription box. Talk about a luxurious soap!  It smelt so amazing I confess that I actually wandered into the bathroom quite a few times for no other reason than to sniff this soap! Unlike a lot of soaps it was also very nourishing and hydrating, and not at all drying, thanks to its inclusion of shea butter, vitamin E and sweet almond oil.

Would I repurchase this soap? Definitely! It added such an indulgent touch of luxury to my bathroom. But before repurchasing I will use my MOR and Ted Baker Limited Edition Cucumber & Casaba Pretty Trees, equally exquisitely scented, triple-milled soap bar which I kindly received from MOR to review. Have a look at how pretty the packaging of this soap is! It features a signature Ted Baker "Pretty Trees" motif & includes an embossed harlequin pattern with the MOR logo which is a bit hard to spot on my photo below. The gold screen printed satin-like pink ribbon adds the perfect finishing touch!

This is a vegetable based triple milled soap and provides a luxuriant lather. Like the Snow Gardenia soap it also contains shea butter and vitamin E making it very moisturising.

The fragrance of this soap is once again amazing! It's a soft uplifting scent combining melon, white jasmine and rose petals, with undertones of beige woods and white musk.

This exclusive triple-milled soap is open to Ted Baker customers who spend $275 or more in store from 27 April to 11 May 2015.

    Sukin Sensitive Cleansing Gel
This cleansing gel was a very gentle yet effective purifying cleanser. I did find it a bit bland however. It would be perfect for people with sensitive skin, which my skin is not. As a result, although there is nothing wrong with this cleanser as such, I would probably not repurchase it. I also have several other cleansers at home waiting to be opened.

Puretopia Smooth & Renew Gentle Exfoliating Face Scrub
I received this product in Priceline's skincare goodie bag last year and I loved it! I've recently been using it in the shower twice a week. The particles in this scrub are fairly fine and were gentle yet effective in scrubbing away my dead skin cells. My skin was left feeling thoroughly clean, soft, renewed and smooth after use. It also looked more radiant, healthier and thus more youthful! Always a plus at my age! I will be repurchasing this product.

LonVitalite C3 Red Wine Collagen Firming & Moisturising Facial Mask &
LonVitalite C4 Coconut Milk Hydrating & Nourishing Facial Mask
In the past couple of weeks I've used up the last of my LonVitalite facial masks. These hydrating and anti-ageing masks are perfect for my 40+ year old skin. They are easy, convenient and relaxing to use and more importantly they result in my skin looking more radiant and refreshed, and feeling softer, smoother, firmer and more hydrated than before.

If you want to read more details about the anti-ageing C3 Red Wine facial mask I have previously reviewed it here. The C4 Coconut Milk mask is very similar. If anything, I love the scent of the coconut mask even more than the red wine mask. It brings memories of tropical island summer holidays flooding back to me.

I highly recommend both of these facial masks. I will definitely be repurchasing LonVitalite's facial masks to pamper myself with.

You can click HERE to purchase these masks from Ry Australia.

    Swisspers Make-up Pads
These makeup pads were highly absorbent and soft. They were perfect to use for removing my makeup and nail polish and didn't break apart or leave any annoying fibres behind. Having said that I'm not really particular about which brand of makeup pads I use. I normally buy the first brand I happen to see or any brand which is on special unless I have had a specific problem with that brand.

Swisspers Original Facial Cleansing Wipes (Sample Pack)
I received this sample pack of 5 facial wipes in Priceline's skincare goodie bag last year.
These wipes smelt pleasant and were well moistened. They were effective in removing all traces of my makeup and were convenient to carry in my handbag. At home I don't usually use facial wipes but these would definitely be convenient when travelling. I will probably purchase a travel sized pack for this purpose in the future.

    Aveda Lip Tint in Peony
I loved wearing this lip tint. Peony is a lovely natural looking shimmery pink colour.I'm definitely planning on repurchasing this lip product.

Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in Fig
I loved wearing this lip shimmer on my lips when I didn't have a full face of makeup on. It's 100% natural and extremely moisturising, preventing my lips from drying out and adds a hint of berry colour to my lips. Thanks to its inclusion of peppermint oil it gave a lovely slight cooling and tingling sensation to my lips when I wore it. I have already repurchased this product.

What products have you finished recently?
