Aceing Your Base Quickly & Easily!

Aceing your base just became so much quicker and easier with Rimmel London's two latest face product releases here in Australia - Rimmel London's BB Radiance Cream & Rimmel London's Lasting Finish 25HR Powder Foundation. Boy that's a mouthful to say and write!

Rimmel London BB Radiance Cream
On the days I work I get up extremely early in the morning and as a result I'm a bit lazy with my makeup on those days. Quite often when the alarm goes off I start doing trade-offs in my head, calculating how much extra time I can stay in bed for leaving out certain steps in my regular morning routine!

My new makeup saviour which allows me to gain quite a few valuable extra minutes in bed is Rimmel London's BB Radiance Cream. This is a 9-in-1 skin perfecting super makeup product! The 9 benefits it advertises fulfilling include:
1. Primes
2. Smoothes
3. Conceals
4. Helps minimise the appearance of pores5. Provides natural looking coverage
6. Moisturises for 24 hours
7. Awakens tired skin
8. Brightens the skin with vitamin C complex, and
9. Gives a radiant finish!

This cream also contains SPF20. Bonus! I save more valuable time not having to apply sunscreen as well! Sun protection is such a vital anti-ageing necessity living in Australia.

This cream also contains shea butter so not surprisingly I found it moisturises and nourishes my skin really well and results in my skin looking smoother, brighter and, yes, more radiant, making it an aptly named product!

This product felt lightweight to use and did not feel at all heavy on my skin yet it still minimised the appearance of my pores and provided good medium coverage to even out my skin blemishes and dark spots. It gave me a natural and healthy glowing look.It really is a great time saving, multi-tasking product for those of you who don't want to use 9 separate products!

The photos below show me firstly with no makeup on, then with just the Rimmel BB Radiance Cream and finally with the addition of Rimmel's Lasting Finish Powder as well. Apart from these two products I am not wearing any other products, primers concealers, blushes, anything! I have purposefully not used any filter on these photos to try to give you the best indication of how these products look when applied.
Rimmel BB Radiance Cream comes in three shades: Very Light, Light & Medium. The medium shade is the best match for my skin. It retails for an extremely reasonable $12.95 and is widely available from Priceline, Target, Kmart, Big W, Chemist Warehouse and selected Woolworths and Coles.

Rimmel London's Lasting Finish 25HR Powder Foundation
I used this lightweight powder foundation dry as a finishing powder on top of my BB radiance cream. It further helped to give me an even more flawless and shine-free finish. I chose the dry method of application due to it being a bit speedier than applying it wet. Anything to save a bit more time to stay in bed that extra minute or two!

This powder foundation can also be used wet and is buildable with adjustable coverage that masks imperfections. Yay! Using it wet gives it a full coverage look as opposed to the light to medium coverage the dry powder offered. I did not find it cakey like some other products.

Using my kabuki brush I found the finely milled, velvety powder applied evenly and smoothly. It did a really good job of keeping my face shine-free all day. I only touched it up once on my nose at the end of the day when I was heading home. Although I must admit I did not test it for 25 hours straight! My days of partying all night and then working the next day are well and truly over!

This product's packaging includes a mirror inside it which is handy for touch-ups on the go.

Given the great results I experienced with this powder foundation, especially in keeping my face shine-free all day, I am happy to recommend this product to anyone.

Rimmel London's Lasting Finish 25HR Powder Foundation comes in 4 shades: 01 Light Porcelain, 02 Soft Beige, 03 Silky Beige and 05 Warm Honey. Warm Honey was the best match for my skin. It retails for $17.95 and is available at the same above stores as the BB Radiance Cream.

Thank you Coty PR Australia for sending me these products to trial. I will definitely be purchasing both of them once I finish my current trial ones.

All beauty bloggers are most welcome to join in and link up a makeup or beauty related post. As with all parties the more the merrier! So please share the link for this link up party on your Twitter and Facebook accounts to help get the word out amongst other beauty bloggers, inviting them to join the party to share some beauty blogger commenting and love with us!

Last week's link up party had 15 gorgeous beauty bloggers joining in to post a link to one of their blog posts and then visiting, reading and commenting on some of the other blog posts!

Once again we covered a comprehensive range of makeup and beauty topics including lip pencils, eye shadow pure pigments, foundation, nail polishes, brow products, hair care products, serums, tanning products, empties, hauls and favourites posts. It all made for some great makeup and beauty related reading! Thank you so much for joining in! I can't wait to see what aspects of makeup and beauty will be included in this week's link up!

The aim of this Monday Makeup Madness link up party is to share some beauty blogger love, strengthen the beauty blogger community, help all our blogs be seen by some new readers and also enable us all to discover some wonderful new beauty blogs and new beauty products.

This link up party starts early each Monday morning (Sydney time) and will remain open until 11.55pm Wednesday night.

What are the rules of the Monday Makeup Madness link up party?

1. Please link up makeup or beauty related posts only.

2. You can link up one post a week. It doesn't matter if it's a new or old post but please don't link up posts you have already linked up here in previous weeks.

April Fabulous Favourite Finds!

I love trialing new beauty products and this month I feel so lucky to have trialed a variety of brilliant products that I have fallen totally in love with.

Lancome Renergie Multi-Lift Day Cream (Light)
I was lucky to receive a jar of the new Lancome Renergie Multi-Lift Day Cream (Light) from Beautyheaven to trial as part of their Beautyheaven trial team. This cream is perfect for anyone concerned with the early signs of ageing.

This moisturising day cream comes beautifully packaged in a silver box with a gold embossed rose. The cream itself is contained in a luxurious purple and silver glass jar.

Purple used to be the colour associated with royalty and this cream is definitely luxurious enough to be used by royalty. I can imagine both Princess Mary and the Duchess of Cambridge, applying this cream to their faces each morning.

Lancome Renergie Multi-Lift Day Cream (Light) has a lovely light floral scent and the cream itself has a silky, thick luxurious consistency, pale pink in colour.

Lancome recommend applying this cream, massaging it outwards and upwards. I found the ritual of this massage each morning to be very relaxing and therapeutic in itself. There is a video of the recommended massaging technique on the Lancome website here.

I found the cream to absorb easily and quickly into my skin and my skin felt smoother, silkier and definitely more hydrated after application.

I love the fact that this cream contains SPF15 which I see as an important anti-ageing inclusion in day creams. This cream is advertised by Lancome as being a "redefining lifting cream, anti-wrinkle, firming and contouring".

Following one month of daily usage I have found my skin to feel smoother and firmer and to look more radiant. My skin also looks "plumper" and as a result some of my fine lines have noticeably diminished.

I absolutely love this cream and will be repurchasing it, which says a lot as this cream is not cheap, at $147 for 50ml, but fortunately a little of it goes a long way.

Beyonce Rise Sheer
One of my all time favourite beauty products is fragrance! I don't feel fully dressed unless I have a fragrance on. I've been wearing fragrances ever since my much loved Nana gave me a bottle of her favourite fragrance 4711 for my 9th birthday. I remember feeling so grown up and sophisticated when I unwrapped it. Of course my tastes in fragrances have changed and developed somewhat since then!

As a result I was extremely happy this month to receive a bottle of Beyonce's new limited edition Rise Sheer fragrance from Coty PR Australia.

I love Beyonce! She is a talented, sheer genius in my eyes, who has risen to super star status, constantly reinventing herself and her fragrances.

Rise Sheer is a limited edition fragrance and part of Beyonce's third fragrance family, Rise. Her first two fragrance families being Heat and Pulse.

Rise Sheer is a lighter, fresher version of Rise. Just like Beyonce herself, Rise Sheer is captivating and alluring! It is a gorgeous, sparkling, floral scent blended with the following notes:

Top notes: Italian Bergamot, Sicilian lemon, iced basil sorbet
Middle notes: Gold symphony orchid, white peony, hydroponic jasmine
Base notes: Blonde woods, sheer musk, white amber.

Not only do I love the scent of Beyonce's Rise Sheer, I also love the elegant gold lidded bottle design. It looks stunning sitting on my mirrored fragrance tray with my other fragrances.

This fragrance lasts up to three hours on my skin after which I need to reapply it. Tip: I often spray a bit on my clothes to make it last longer!

OPI Hawaii Collection Nail Polishes
This month I've also really been loving these three nail polishes from the OPI Hawaii collection. I wrote a blog post on them here last week so I won't repeat myself too much other than to say the creamy formula of these polishes is excellent. I achieve a completely opaque look with just two coats of these polishes. When applied with a base and top coat these polishes last me for 5 days with no chips. A brilliant result considering how much I use my hands at work and home.

Typo Pink Flamingo Pencil Case Makeup Bag
My last April favourite item is from Typo. I know this is a stationery store and not a beauty store but when I saw this totally gorgeous pink flamingo pencil case I simply had to have it.
As my current makeup bag was worn out and slightly ripped it was definitely time to replace it and what better to replace it with than this pink flamingo Typo pencil case! I love it!

I might have a slight obsession with pink flamingos! I also bought the matching pink flamingo notebook from Typo which I now use for my blogging notes plus I bought a fluffy pink flamingo pen from the $2 shop.

One can never have enough makeup, fragrances, beauty products OR pink flamingo products! Don't you agree?

Have you discovered any new beauty products recently
which you've fallen in love with?

Last week's inaugural Monday Makeup Madness link up saw ten gorgeous beauty bloggers link up a makeup or beauty related post to this link up party.

There was an interesting and varied mix of topics including nail polish, lipstick, concealer, mascara, Clarisonic's Mia, a haul and two subscription box reviews, as well as my review of the beautyheaven beauty degustation event I recently attended. I can't wait to see what aspects of makeup and beauty this week's link up will include.

Thank you so much to those that participated last week. I'm hoping others reading this will also join in the fun as I'd love to find even more beauty blogs to read and comment on! Like I said before, the more the merrier!

OPI Hawaii - That's Hula-rious! Swatches and Review

Hawaii is home to hula dancing and hula skirts, fresh tropical fruits, dramatic lush green scenery, bright flowers, glorious sunsets, surfing and volcanoes. It is also the inspiration for OPI's latest nail polish collection, the OPI Hawaii Collection!

The OPI Hawaii Collection consists of 12 shades of nail polish ranging from gorgeous pastel shades of mint, peach, pink and nude, to bolder and brighter shades of coral, green, purple and yellow to deeper tones of mauve, violet, brick red and shimmery blue.

Each shade has a cute Hawaiian associated name, such as "Lost My Bikini in Molokini", "Hello Hawaii Ya?" and "Go With The Lava Flow" that I just love! Yes, in addition to loving beauty products, I'm also a bit of a word nerd who loves word puns!

ImageCredit: OPI
I was very happy and grateful to receive a selection of three nail polishes from the OPI Hawaii Collection from Coty PR Australia including the bright coral shade "Aloha from OPI", the rockmelon/peach shade "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" (another shade name I totally love)  and the gorgeous pastel green minty shade "That's Hula-rious!".

My favourite is definitely "That's Hula-rious!". It's such a gorgeous pastel green minty shade I had to put it on immediately. It also perfectly matched my colourful and sparkley kaftan top that I was wearing to my nephew's birthday party that night! Double win!

I love the creamy formula of "That's Hula-rious!". It was completely opaque with the second coat. My nails in the following photos have two coats of "That's Hula-rious!" plus a base and top coat.

The polish lasted well on my nails for 5 days with only two small chips appearing on the 6th day. I was really happy with this as I do use my hands a lot, typing at work and doing the housework and dishes (ewwww!) at home.

Being forever the bargain hunter, let me pass on the cheapest place I've found to buy the OPI Hawaii Collection nail polishes. It's at Ry Australia, click HERE to shop.

What are your favourite shades of nail polish?
Do you have a preference for pastels, nudes, brights or
shimmery and sparkley nail polishes?

Beauty Heaven Beauty Degustation Event

I feel so lucky and grateful to have been invited to beautyheaven's latest Beauty Degustation event at their HQ in Rozelle at the end of March.

The definition of "degustation" is to trial something carefully so as to appreciate it fully, and at this fabulous beautyheaven beauty degustation event there was definitely a lot of trialing and appreciating of new beauty products!

About 20 beautyheaven members attended and we were divided up into 4 small groups to rotate around 4 different beauty stations. The beauty stations included Colgate Optic White, Garnier Miracle Cream, Physiogel Skin Care and Claire Murray naturopathy.

The first beauty station I visited was the Colgate Optic White, teeth whitening information station. This station was manned by both a Colgate representative and also by a dentist, Dr Sue.

Teeth whitening is something I have been considering for quite a while now but what has always held me back has been the niggling doubt in the back of my mind as to whether teeth whitening would weaken or damage my teeth in the process. Having Dr Sue present to answer all my questions totally allayed my fears, as did the fact that Colgate is such a reputable company. Dr Sue advised me that Colgate Optic White Express is a totally enamel safe teeth whitening product. Yay!

Dr Sue advised that using Colgate Optic White Express White products could whiten your teeth by 3 shades over 4 weeks of regular use. The following photo shows the colour guide of teeth shades.

Below is a photo of the contents of the goody bag I received from Colgate Optic White. I'm really excited about trialing these products over the next 4 weeks to hopefully achieve 3 shades whiter teeth! Look out for a review in about 5-6 weeks time with photos to see how these products worked on my teeth!

The second beauty station I visited was the Garnier Miracle Room station. At this station the new Garnier Miracle Skin Cream (Day) and Miracle Skin Cream (Eye) were introduced to us.

Garnier Miracle Creams are really amazing. They comes out of the tube white but when applied to your face they transform to match the colour of your skin and to even it out! They work like a primer, a moisturiser, an anti-ageing cream and also as a light makeup base.
They're numerous products rolled into one, they're really a lazy girl's dream products!

One of the biggest beauty concerns of women, myself included, is the effects of ageing on our skin. These Garnier Skin Cream products contain 7 anti-ageing actives plus SPF15.

As a result these products claim to have both instant effects of smoothing, evening out and illuminating the skin plus lasting long term effects of reducing wrinkles, dark spots and pores!

This sounds perfect for my 40+ year old skin. I will let you know the results of my trialing of these products and whether they live up to their claims or not! Fingers crossed they do! The instant effects to date are promising to say the least!

Here's a photo of the contents of the goody bag I received from Garnier with the products I will be trialing over the next couple of weeks.

The third beauty station I visited was the Physiogel skincare consultation station. Physiogel is a relatively new brand to Australia and no, it's products are not similar to Dencorub, as their name might suggest, but are actually hypoallergenic skincare products, formulated to protect and repair dry, sensitive skin.

At this station we all had an individual skincare consultation with the Physiogel professionals to determine which of Physiogel's 2 skincare ranges suited us best:
       i) Calming Relief (red) range designed for dry, irritated and sensitive skin, perfect for                 those with eczema or dermatitis, or
ii) Daily Moisture Therapy (blue) range designed for dry, sensitive skin.

The Daily Moisture Therapy range was found to be more suitable for my skin type and I received the full sized Daily Moisture Therapy Cream, Lotion and Body Wash in my goody bag pictured below to trial over the next couple of weeks.

I also received a sample pack of the Calming Relief Cream and Lotion which I will pass onto my niece who suffers from eczema.

The fourth beauty station we visited was hosted by naturopath Claire Murray. Claire was advocating a holistic approach to our diet with the aim of healing our skin and treating it from the inside out.

Skin is the body's largest organ and anything that affects our digestive system also affects our skin Claire advised.

Claire reminded us of the importance of balancing our diets by eating more of the "good" foods for our skin such as greens and good fats, for example, avocados and nuts, and eating less of the foods that are potentially damaging to our skins, such as processed foods, refined sugar which can cause premature ageing (no thanks!!!), and dairy.

She then made us a smoothie full of all the good stuff!!! Here's her recipe for a glow-boosting skin smoothie!

Claire's Glow-Boosting Skin Smoothie
Ingredients:
1-2 cups nut milk/coconut water
1/2 avocado
1 heaped teaspoon chia seeds
1 handful baby spinach leaves
1 dessert spoon coconut butter/oil
1 chopped frozen banana

Optional Extras:
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon greens powder
1 teaspoon honey

Method:
1. Place all the ingredients in a blender, blitz until well combined.
2. Drink and enjoy daily to promote your skin's glow!

For more information and advice from Claire about unearthing your glow and restoring radiance see her website www.clairesholisticpursuits.com. This website also contains a free skin healing e-book she has written.

Thank you beautyheaven for an amazing fun-filled and informative afternoon of learning about and trying new beauty products and talking beauty with other beautyheaven members. I had an absolutely fabulous and fun time! Thank you to all the companies involved for the great goody bags. Much appreciated!

Have you tried any new beauty products recently?
